"The Transience of Being"

As is quite common outside of the studio, photography often ‘captures the moment’. The problem is that life is fluid and dynamic, and ten or even a hundred consecutive images can each tell a different story.

The work ‘Transience of Being’ captures this fluidity of life – do we exist in the moment or just inhabit a sequence of frames where we are continually passing from the frame before into the following frame – the past, the present, and the future.

In the Photography category we chose Antonia’s work ‘Transience of Being’ for its ethereal and mythical qualities. It has a sense of isolation, moodiness, perhaps of a cold early morning – but certainly a great deal of movement and that sense of transience referred to in the title.
